1. How do I create a Message Board?

1) Sign in to your Toolbox

2) Click "Site Index"

3) Click "Create New Page"

4) Give the page a sensible Title and File Name (e.g. "Message Board" and "messageboard")

5) Select the "Message Board" page type

6) Finally hit the "Save" button and you will see your new message board at the bottom of the list in the "Site Index".

2. Can message board posts display a username (alias) for the Author instead of the person's real name?

Currently the Message Board displays the Author's "First Name" and "Last Name" with their Post. This is the "First Name" and "Last Name" that they specified when they registered at the site. We don't use an alias system.

You could recommend to all your Registered Users - that they "Edit Profile" to change their information to specify an alias in the First Name and Last Name fields. This would achieve the same results that you're looking for.

3. Can users be "auto-Emailed" everytime someone posts to a Message Board?

No, not currently.

As the site owner you should regularly check your messageboard to make sure that there are no "unwanted" posts on the board.

You should consider using the Email Lists tool - to send out bulk Email to your Groups to notify them of new things on your website.
