1.
How
do I set up my own domain name with my Cumulus9 site?
Do you want a domain like:
www.MyChurchName.org, instead of www.churchplanet.net/sites/MyChurchName?
We can help you set this
up!!
Cumulus9
charge a DNS hosting and management fee of $25 per domain name per year. This
covers our costs of hosting, administration and of setting up your domain name
with your Cumulus9 website.
Here's how
to go about getting your Domain Name attached to your Cumulus9 website...
Step
1: Purchase your domain name.
If you already own your domain name you may skip this step. If you have not
yet registered your own domain name you can do so at any of the following sites:
www.dotster.com, www.yournamedomains.com,
www.register.com.
If you need
help registering your domain, please Email at customerservice@cumulus9.com
with your phone number and tell us a good time to Call you – then we’ll
walk you through the whole process.
Step
2: Make Cumulus9 your DNS host.
When you register your domain name, you are asked to provide DNS host information
(Name Servers). Similarly, if you are already hosted somewhere, but are moving
to your new Cumulus9 website, or have just parked your domain until now, you
will need to inform your domain registrar of your intent to change DNS host.
This is usually done via forms on the registrar’s website.
Please change
the Name Server information for your domain to the following:
Primary
Name Server: ns1.c9it.com
Secondary Name Server: ns2.c9it.com
It is also
helpful to list Cumulus9 as the “Technical Contact”. To do so, please
use the following information.
Email Address:
DNSAdmin@cumulus9.com
Address: 13389 Folsom Blvd Ste#300-182, Folsom, CA 95630
Phone: 916-357-5616
Step
3: Tell us what your domain and site names are so we can set it up.
Please send an email to customerservice@cumulus9.com
with the following:
- Your Name
- Your Phone Number
- Your New Domain Name
- Your Full Site URL
We will then call you to confirm the details and take payment of the $25 fee.
Step
4: We complete the set up.
Please be patient. It can take a while for domain registrars, web hosting companies,
and even the Internet to acknowledge changes. We normally get your new domain
set up within 72 hours.

How do I check my Domain Name information or to see who owns a Domain?
You can
do a "whois" look-up - to see who owns a particular domain name, and
where its pointing.
Go to: http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois
You can then enter the domain in the search box - to find out all the relevant
information.
